José Vicente Fernández Biurrun (born 1 September 1959 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a retired Spanish footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Although Brazilian born, he was of Basque descent and moved to Spain at a young age, and was thus deemed to be eligible to play for Athletic Bilbao.[1]
Biurrun started playing professionally with Real Sociedad but, blocked by Spanish international Luis Arconada, he was forced to move and joined Navarrese neighbours CA Osasuna, appearing in 60 La Liga games from 1983–86.
After having joined another Basque outfit, Athletic Club de Bilbao, Biurrun established himself as a top flight player, with a further 151 league contests during four seasons. Subsequently, he signed with RCD Español, as a replacement for recently retired Thomas N'Kono, of Cameroon, playing in 81 games from 1990–93.
Biurrun retired in 1995, after ending where he had started, Real Sociedad. He stayed connected with the game, as a players' advisor.
